Abstract art pieces are also common in these bright homes, ranging from framed art to sculptures and even sculptural lamps. A new emphasis on cost-efficiency and sustainability have inspired these trends. It is encouraged to invest in timeless pieces (and vintage pieces are technically timeless since their tine has not ended). In contrast with the direction interior design appeared to be going in the late 2010s, with sharp geographic shapes and straight lines, the 2020s have inspired a shift to curvier, groovier aesthetics. It is common to see colourful statement tiles. Tiles of different shapes and colours are often seen on the walls near the vanity or on the floor. This time around, however, these colourful bathrooms tend to use a more muted marble design rather than a louder grey look. Two other aspects of the bathroom are also becoming more evident. First, mirrors tend to be smaller and framed, as opposed to the wider, full-length mirrors of the early 2000s. The other striking aspect is the free-standing tub. It seems that bathtubs are no longer sucked in and crammed to one wall; there seems to be a theme of maximizing the use of the available space. &nbsp;</p><p>Finally, people are incorporating plants. The earth-tones are being elevated by the greenery that plants offer. Usually, we are not talking about flowers. The most common plants used in homes now are cacti, aloe, succulents, bamboo palm, fern, and a few others. Whether on your bookshelf, your windowsill, hanging around your bathroom, or potted in the corner of your kitchen, plants can add brightness and life to your space. There is one thing to note: they need care. While it might not have the same effect, faux plants may be your best bet if you are notorious for murdering your plants.&nbsp;</p><p>The overall theme in common interior design practices tend to be two things: sustainability sure, but then doing what you want and will make you happy. The modern, grey, geometric aesthetic of the 2010s was difficult for some people to subscribe to and they are glad to see that trend lose favour. Afterall, it is your home, and you can define what is homey enough for you. Leave the grey for the office space and rental units.</p>
